Fortis

Since the early days of my collection, Fortis has been a part of it.

Fortis was founded in 1912 by Walter Vogt. The story is that Vogt was partners with John Harwood, who had created the first mass-produced automatic watch. The brand even boasts a somewhat recent history of space exploration with the docking of Atlantis to the MIR in 1994.

To us, neo-vintage Fortis has the market on simple and robust tool watches. The build quality and style are very strong. The 1960’s and 1970’s Fortis Marinemaster is one of the most coveted of the brand’s heritage.
